I was wandering the back yard by the lake and happened to notice this fella; took a little bit of post-processing to get some of the color to come out so it’s a bit grainier than I would like.

No Diving Off Bridge
A sturdy bridge somewhere on Kauai
I forget exactly where I was on Kauai when I took this picture; it was near the very beginning of my Walkabout in 2007. Roughly five months of intentional homelessness and the occasional telecommuting in exchange for emotional and physical freedom and renewal. The walkabout process taught me that “walkabouts” don’t happen by accident or circumstance…they are born from need and intent.
I don’t know if I’ll ever have the opportunity for this sort of experience again, now that I have a son. At least, not for a very long time.

Last weekend, while working on the BBQ grill my wife noticed that our lime tree was covered in flowers. No idea how long it’s been blooming, but there was pretty good sun that afternoon so I grabbed a couple of quick shots before continuing about my day.
My Canon 28-135mm lens does an OK job with close-up shots like this, but it’s not really intended for “macro” I suppose. Still learning the vocabulary, I mostly just go out and shoot stuff. But I at least know enough to know that I need another lens or two for the types of pictures I seem to gravitate to.
